6 Foods That Boost Energy The Healthy Way

When caregivers are tired, and this may happen quite often, they typically resort to coffee, chocolate, or other caffeinated food or drink. However, while caffeine is an effective aid, there may be healthier, less addictive options.

Men's Fitness shares the following foods and drinks that can help you get a boost without adding a ton of caffeine to your diet:

  1. Eggs. Packed with protein and B-Vitamins, everyone's favorite breakfast food is a great way to become energized.
  2. Edamame. This popular little bean has B-Vitamins, copper, and phosphorous. They may be small, but they pack a punch. As Men's Fitness says, just 1 cup of shelled soybeans packs over 8g of fiber and 17g of protein!
  3. Trail Mix. Protein from nuts, sugar from fruit, and just a touch of caffeine from chocolate, a handful of trail mix will open your eyes.
  4. Water. Water? Yes, water. Staying hydrated will provide a surprising amount of energy. Drink plenty of water throughout the day for a ton of health benefits.
  5. Quinoa. This gluten-free grain is a healthy alternative to potatoes or other carbs. It's packed with protein to make you finish the day off strong.
  6. Goji Berries. This one is most likely the least-known item on this list. Men's Fitness explains Goji berries have been used in Chinese medicine for thousands of years. As you can see, it has quite a track record energizing people up!

It's time to wake up! Coffee is great, but if you have a health issue with caffeine, there are plenty of ways to wake up.
